KITTS, JULY 25TH 2017 – The Federation’s respected blogger, Washington DC-based Everton “Obi” Powell said Tuesday there is there is widespread discontent from many in the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force “because the promised overtime pay has not been forthcoming from the UNITY government.”

Powell, who says his information came from “two very reliable sources inside the Royal St. Kitts-Nevis Police Force,” disclosed that officers “are so upset that they have resorted to contacting the Obi the Biggest Baddest Blogger (obtheBBB) to get their grievances aired.”

“Some of the members of St. Kitts-Nevis Police are even threatening some kind of industrial action over lack of the promised overtime pay from the UNITY government,” said Powell, who posted a message sent to him.

“We working our ass off…and can’t get the overtime we were promised…overtime started in January and up to now we nuh get a cent. Every month is a different story.”

Powell asked his readers to “keep in mind St. Kitts- Nevis is going through a very terrible year of unrelenting murders, the vast majority unsolved, so to have the police being discontented is not a good thing for the society. Just for the first half of 2017, St. Kitts-Nevis have been 18 murders so far which is on pace, if the trend holds up, to having around 35 murders in one year making it the highest number of murders for a single year in the history of federation.”

He said police officers risk pay as well as overtime pay increase was promised by the UNITY government of Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris in 2015.
