Corruption In Harris-led Government Threatens the Standard of Living Of Citizens and Residents

The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis has not only lost its ranking as the premier Caribbean island, but its credibility has also been shattered. This is according to Dr. Terrance Drew, the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour party’s caretaker for constituency #8.

Speaking at the SKNLP’s Press Conference earlier today, May 14th 2018, Dr. Drew stated that the coalition is being called out for a number of issues that have been swept under the rug.

During his presentation, Dr. Drew expressed that a corrupt government threatens the livelihood of any country, adding that the efforts of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party are to highlight these points and sensitize the public as to what is right and what is wrong relative to any government and any administration and their reign.

“We want to sensitize the public as to how the government operates so that they can understand that this is not the type of administration that should be directing your government.”

He continued, “These corrupt acts go and hit our democracy. When our democracy gets hit, it means people cannot live the type of lives they want to live. We (SKNLP) want people to see the correlation between corruption and their standard of living in a country.”

The immoral and greedy actions of Prime Minister Timothy Harris and his colleagues will lend to the decision of the next government, Dr. Drew said.

“In the next election, I think people will have the clearer picture of what a new Labour administration would represent and what this Harris-led government really represents. Those two pictures are two distinct pictures, one of good practice, progress and upward mobility and the other, where ministers are focussed on themselves.”
