FIREARM AND 15 ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION RECOVERED AT SITE OF SHOOTING ON NEVIS

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 26, 2017 (RSCNPF): Officers responding to a shooting incident at the Cotton Ground Playing Field on Sunday (March 26) discovered and seized a Glock 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 15 matching rounds of ammunition.

The shooting incident occurred about 4.00pm on Sunday (March 26) and resulted in the death of one person.  

The firearm was seized and ballistics analysis will be carried out.

This find brings to eight (8), the number of firearms removed from our communities so far in 2017.

 Investigators from theViolent Crimes Unit (VCU) and Officers of Police Division “C” Nevis, are investigating a shooting incident in Cotton Ground that occurred abou t4.00pm on Sunday (Marc

 

The incident resulted in the death of one (1) person, Rondel Chapman,  a 23 year old male resident of Rawlins Village.  Initial investigations reveal that the victim was shot by unknown assailants while at the Cotton Ground Playing Field.

Police from the Cotton Ground Police Station responded to the scene upon notification. The scene was processed by the Forensics Services Unit.

 

The investigation continues.

 

Head of the Nevis Division, Superintendent Trevor Mills encourages persons who were in the area and may have seen the incident to report what they saw to the Police.  He said, “Persons can do so by calling any Police Station,  by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477(TIPS) or by using the SKN Crime Reporter App on their Smartphone.”

Superintendent Mills added, “I encourage the public,  If you See Something, Say Something.”
